LOWELL, MA – Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is excited to launch its new community outreach initiative, called Small Acts That Give Back, where the Credit Union performs random acts of kindness throughout the local community and within its branches.

The Credit Union, which just celebrated its 106th anniversary, kicked off the initiative on Friday, February 16th at Market Basket on Fletcher Street in Lowell. Jeanne D’Arc team members greeted nearly 100 shoppers at the entrance and throughout the store with a Market Basket gift card and a free reusable tote bag. Recipients were thrilled and surprised that their morning shopping trip included a small gift to help with their groceries. They all graciously expressed their appreciation.

“I want to thank Jeanne D’Arc for the gift card and the bag here at Market Basket in Lowell. I appreciate it so much. You’re great!” said one excited shopper.

“I think it was really nice of these people to give us $15.00 for food because [it’s hard to] buy food when you don’t have much income, so it was nice of you” said another appreciative customer.

Shoppers could be seen checking out at the registers with smiles across their faces as they swiped their gift cards and loaded their groceries into their new tote bags.

The kindness spread into the weekend at Muffins on Main in Westford. On Saturday, February 17th, employees from Jeanne D’Arc’s Westford Branch chipped in for customers’ orders, and gave them the opportunity to pay it forward to someone else. Thankful customers continued the Small Act by paying for the people waiting in line behind them. Saturday was also National Random Act of Kindness Day, and the Credit Union’s way of celebrating motivated some customers to get involved in their own community by giving back to local organizations.

“Giving back to the community is such an integral part of our organization, and our new Small Acts That Give Back initiative is a perfect way to spread joy to our community members,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “We understand the power of care and compassion, and that that even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors,” he added.
