Credit Union Awards Scholarships

scholarshipsEach year Gulf Coast Educators FCU offers three graduating seniors $4,000 scholarships. Two of the scholarships are awarded to students who plan to work in the education field. This years recipients are Titus Brooks from North Shore High School, Regina Riojas from Deer Park High School & Garrett Glatfelter from Dayton High School. Titus Brooks plans to study biology with an emphasis on secondary education.� Counselor Regina Watson, in her recommendation letter, wrote: "Titus Brooks is an intelligent, hardworking, persistent young man with a warm personality and a sincere concern for other people. Mr. Brooks has repeatedly received numerous honors and awards for various competitions. These achievements speak volumes about his commitment, dedication and really exemplify the characteristics of his determination to be successful." Regina Riojas plans to become a music teacher and will attend University of Houston.� Counselor Kay Shoffit wrote: "It has been a pleasure to be Reginas counselor at Deer Park High School.� Reginas perseverance, leadership and strong work ethic have helped her reach her current goals and will help her reach her goals in the future. In addition to her incredible work ethic at school, Regina is involved with her church, both with vacation bible school and helping with child care. Regina is passionate, outgoing, creative and hard-working&.no doubt she will be successful in all that she sets out to achieve." Garrett Glatfelter plans to study mechanical engineering at Lamar University. Counselor Dahl Rollins wrote in her letter of recommendation: "I have had the distinct honor of serving as Garretts guidance counselor and I am continually impressed by his intelligence, leadership and compassion for others. Garrett is very active in his community. He chooses to live by his principles and scruples while maintaining excellent grades. He is a role model for his peers and proof to adults that we can have faith in our young people."
