Jeanne D'Arc CU Board Chair Shows Commitment to Community
January 30, 2018
We share a passion for our members and community: that’s our common thread.
LOWELL, MA – Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union is pleased to announce Mr. John P. Chemaly, Co-Owner and President of Trinity E.M.S., Inc., will serve as the new Chairman of its Board of Directors.
The new election comes after previous Chairman, Mr. George C. Eliades, Jr., Esquire announced his retirement after dedicating 30 years of service on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors.
“We are so appreciative for the time and commitment George Eliades Jr. has generously contributed to the Credit Union for the last three decades,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “He has always been passionate about our mission, as well as the City of Lowell, and has been a true advocate for educating people about the Credit Union difference.”
Mr. Chemaly succeeds Mr. Eliades with 15 years serving on the Credit Union’s Board of Directors. Raised in Tewksbury, Mass., Mr. Chemaly is well-known for his community involvement. In addition to Jeanne D’Arc’s Board of Directors, he serves as the Board Chairman of the Massachusetts Ambulance Association, Co-Chairman of the City of Lights Parade and Co-Chairman of the Lowell Sun’s Sun Santa. He also sits on the Board of Directors for the Greater Lowell Community Foundation, the Middlesex Community College Foundation, The Lowell Plan, Home Health VNA, the Board of Governors for Lowell General Hospital, as well as the Lowell Winterfest Committee. He is also an active member of the City of Lowell Opioid Task Force.
“I’m very proud and honored to serve as Jeanne D’Arc’s Chair to further its mission within the community,” said Mr. Chemaly.
Mr. Chemaly joined the Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union Board of Directors in 2003. He was initially drawn to the Credit Union’s dedication to helping people in the community achieve their financial goals, such as buying a home. He appreciates how Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union helps each member make sound financial decisions.
“We’re a great helping institution in the community, and I want to continue that,” said Mr. Chemaly. “We want to help better the community, and help people along the way.”
Mr. Chemaly looks forward to helping the Credit Union gear its efforts to reach the millennial generation, and hopes to see the Credit Union enlarge its footprint by expanding to other states.
“We are honored to have John Chemaly serve as our Board Chairman,” said Mr. Cochran. “John has a true passion for giving back to our local community, and has been an asset to our Board for the last 15 years. He continuously demonstrates unwavering dedication to serving and helping others, as well as genuine enthusiasm for the mission of the Credit Union.”
