People's Credit Union Donates Over $500 to United Way of Rhode Island
January 29, 2018
People's Credit Union (People's) recently donated over $500 to the United Way of Rhode Island. The funds were raised through a bake sale and an employee dress down day, called Casual for a Cause, that is put on by People's Community Enhancement Committee. The Committee works with all six People's branch locations to plan monthly dress down days to benefit non-profit organizations.
The United Way's mission is to help improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities around the world to advance the common good. The United Way's programs not only help people through an immediate crisis, but also through funding programs that help people develop the tools they need to provide themselves and their families. The United Way and People's Credit Union both believe in strengthening Rhode Island's communities and that together they can make more of an impact.
Nieves Morillo, development officer at the United Way, Rhode Island, stated "such a simple concept, who knew that 'dressing down' could have such an uplifting impact on the people in our community that need it most! This is just one of the many ways we can create positive change. It is precisely why we at United Way of Rhode Island express our gratitude on receiving these funds raised from dress down day by People's Credit Union members and employees, who truly care about enhancing the communities we serve. United Way of Rhode Island is continuously trying to find ways to change lives and strengthen our community. It puts us at ease to know that we are doing it with the support of People's Credit Union, which shares that common goal."
