January 22, 2018
Riverdale, Utah – Saturday, January 20, 2018 – America First Credit Union is helping to ease the burden of its members affected by the shutdown of government agencies across the nation by providing no-cost counseling services, loan extensions and numerous free and low-cost benefits. America First, which has more than 900,000 members, is also offering a special Furlough Assistance Loan. The personal loan of up to $3,000 will be made available to federal employees who have been furloughed due to the recent government shutdown.
“We understand that the government shutdown has already begun to create a ripple effect throughout our communities and we are grateful to be able to provide financial assistance and relief to our members,” said John B. Lund, president and CEO of America First Credit Union. “This can be a difficult time for all those affected, and we hope to remain a trusted financial institution for those who serve us through their work each day.”
The Furlough Assistance Loan will be available one-time only and offers terms up to seven months, with one month interest free. The loan has a zero percent interest rate for the first 30 days and then a 4.99 percent interest rate that begins to accrue on day 31. Applicants must provide proof of federal government employment including a recent paystub not older than 30 days, military or government ID or a verified direct deposit from a federal employer to America First.
America First members can also take advantage of free financial counseling, free financial education and safe savings programs. Members are encouraged to contact America First about the options available to them by calling 1-800-999-3961 by visiting America First’s Financial Counseling resource page online or by stopping into their local branch.
