MSUFCU Raises Funds for Children's Grief Awareness Month
December 20, 2017
EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union launched a unique promotion to honor Children’s Grief Awareness Month in November by donating a penny to Ele’s Place every time a Credit Union member used his or her MSUFCU credit or debit card. In total, MSUFCU donated $4,990.01 to Ele’s Place, presenting a check on December 12, 2017. Through the It All Adds Up promotion, members opted-in to participate through their online accounts in MSUFCU’s mobile app or ComputerLine, the Credit Union’s online banking service. Each time an enrolled member used his or her MSUFCU credit or debit card, the Credit Union added a penny to the total donation amount. The promotion ran throughout the month of November.
“Our It All Adds Up promotion invited our members to be a part of an initiative to support Ele’s Place during Grief Awareness Month by doing something that everyone could easily be a part of,” said April Clobes, MSUFCU’s President/CEO. “As a credit union, we operate within the founding principle of ‘people helping people’ and this promotion showcases how as little as a penny can make a difference and how our members, by making every day purchases, are truly helping others.”
Ele’s Place is a healing center for grieving children and teens. Four locations support families throughout the Lansing, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Flint areas and beyond. Each week, peer support group programs help hundreds of children, ages 3–18, learn how to cope and begin to heal after the death of a parent, sibling, or other loved one.
MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence and has received several top industry and workplace awards. For the sixth year in a row, MSUFCU was named as a Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press.
