Bannockburn (IL) – As the song goes, “it’s the most wonderful time of the year”! While this is true for many families, Great Lakes Credit Union (GLCU) is aware that for some, this is simply not the case. To help those in need this Christmas season, GLCU’s branches partnered with 11 local charitable organizations to donate more than $2,200 in food, clothing, toiletries, toys and other holiday and non-holiday essentials.

“This time of year is about giving back to the community; the best feeling in the world is to give and to give happily. We’re making a big difference in the lives of so many people and I am happy to be a part of it all.” – Nicholas Mager, GLCU’s Community Development Supervisor.

Each Branch Manager worked closely with their Community Development team to research local charitable causes to support this holiday season. The chosen organizations and branches listed below are:

  • Open Arms Mission (Antioch)
  • Village of Bolingbrook
  • Together We Cope (Country Club Hills)
  • The Salvation Army Crystal Lake Corps Community Center
  • Warren Township Center (Gurnee)
  • Bridge Communities (Naperville)
  • Maristella (North Chicago)
  • P.L.A.N. (Round Lake Beach)
  • The Salvation Army Waukegan Corps Community Center
  • Community Action Agency (Woodstock)
  • Northern Illinois Food Bank (Zion)
