(SAN ANTONIO, TX – DECEMBER 20, 2017) –– Security Service Charitable Foundation has presented Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio with a $5,000 donation that will be used to purchase two new stoves for a San Antonio-based house and provide taxi vouchers for families in need of transportation.
Ronald McDonald House Charities provides safe, temporary living accommodations for families while their children are receiving critical medical treatment in the San Antonio area. The houses provide families a quiet place to regroup, rest and gather strength so they can help their children heal.
“Donations like these unite our community in providing for families undergoing the numerous challenges of caring for their severely ill children,” said Pat Bivin, executive director of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio. “With this donation, Security Service is helping our families focus on what matters most, their children.”
More than 20 families at a local Ronald McDonald House have been strained by the disrepair of two out of four stoves, a much-needed asset used to make meals for loved ones. Of Security Service’s $5,000 donation, $1,700 will be utilized to purchase new stoves. The remaining $3,300 will help fund the Ronald McDonald House taxi voucher program, as many participating families do not have transportation. These vouchers help families travel to and from hospitals and medical appointments.
"At Security Service, serving our community is our first priority, whether that is through financial guidance and services, or by partnering with invaluable organizations like Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Antonio,” said Clarissa Rodriguez, Ronald McDonald House board member and assistant vice president of corporate communications for Security Service Federal Credit Union. "We are honored to be a part of this program’s admirable work and humbled to help serve families in need.”
The Security Service Charitable Foundation helps further Security Service Federal Credit Union’s corporate goal of community service by contributing to deserving organizations and causes in the credit union's market areas.
