Hanscom AFB, MA (December 16, 2017) – Hanscom Federal Credit Union volunteers recently shared their culinary skills by preparing dinner for the guests at Fisher House Boston. Fisher House Boston provides lodging for military families who have loved ones receiving care at the West Roxbury Veteran Affairs Medical Center.
“It can be very difficult for these families to be away from home, especially at this time of the year,” said Hanscom FCU Chairman Paul Marotta. “Providing a home-cooked meal is our way of letting them know we are thinking of them and we care.”
Fisher House Boston is one of 73 Fisher Houses located on 24 military installations and 29 VA medical centers worldwide. These homes provide military families housing that is close to a loved one during hospitalization. There is no charge for family members to stay at a Fisher House. Since 1990, the program has served 305,000 families.
Hanscom Federal Credit Union, headquartered at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts, serves nearly 80,000 members across the country and overseas through 20 branches, over 100,000 service centers and surcharge-free ATMs, 24-hour telephone service and a web-based branch. The credit union holds $1.2 billion in assets.
