Madison, SD - Casual Friday’s feel great, not just because the team at East River FCU gets to wear jeans, but also because in doing so, they are making a difference in their community. In order to participate in casual Friday, team members make a contribution to the Casual Dress Day Fund. Those funds accumulate all year long and, in December, they have the privilege of donating them to a worthy cause. After looking at the many needs within the community, the team chose the Lake County Food Pantry and the Back Pack Program as this year’s Casual Dress Day donation recipients.

“The number of people in our community, especially children, who utilize these programs is so great, it just made sense to offer our support with the Casual Dress Day donations this year”, states President Mechelle Johnson. Each recipient was given a $365 donation. In addition to this donation, East River FCU will be accepting non-perishable food donations in their lobby throughout the month of December.

The Back Pack Program supplies food packets for 144 children in Lake County every week. Overall, the Food Pantry provides services for over 500 families every year.
