Southeast 605 Chapter of Credit Unions Supports Feeding South Dakota
December 5, 2017
SIOUX FALLS, SD — On Thursday, June 22, the Southeast 605 Chapter of Credit Unions held their annual charity golf tournament to benefit Feeding South Dakota and other local charities. Over 70 golfers teamed up to raise $6,500.
On Giving Tuesday, November 28, 2017, the Southeast 605 Chapter’s Board of Directors presented a check to Feeding South Dakota for their Backpack Program. This program provides at-risk children with nutritious, easy-to-prepare foods during weekends and holidays when school is not in session. Food is distributed through the schools because of their relationship with students, easy access and safe environments. Feeding South Dakota distributes more than 3,400 packages of food each week to children in the Sioux Falls school district and 10 surrounding communities.
Just before the donation was made, the chapter learned of an individual who was willing to match donations to Feeding SD. After contacting them, the match was approved, bringing the total donation to $13,000!
“We are excited to make this donation to Feeding South Dakota,” stated Alayna Johnson, Southeast 605 Chapter of Credit Unions Board President. “A special thank you to all of our golfers and vendors for helping us provide backpacks to 43 students this school year.”
The Southeast 605 Chapter of Credit Unions is comprised of the following credit unions: First Century FCU, Sioux Empire FCU, East River FCU, Sioux Falls FCU, Voyage FCU, Service First FCU, Vermillion FCU, and Black Hills FCU.
