Stratford, CT –November 30, 2017  –  Sikorsky Credit Union recently joined forces with William B. Meyer Inc. and the Stratford Rotary in hosting a Shred It and Recycling Day event. This event took place at the Baldwin Center in Stratford on Saturday, October 28, and gave local residents an opportunity to protect their personal information by having paperwork properly destroyed. In addition to paper shredding, used electronics were collected for disposal and recycling.

A donation was requested of participants, with proceeds going toward the purchase of school supplies for needy Stratford elementary school students. A near record amount was raised on this cool and clear October morning.

“The Stratford Rotary Club is very appreciative of those who came out for this event. Your participation helps us support Stratford students.” said John Corb, a Stratford Rotarian who helped facitilitate the event.  Added Diane Farrell, Senior Vice President of Marketing at Sikorsky Credit Union, “This event fills an important need for the community. We are constantly hearing about the need to protect and properly dispose of confidential information.  The community focus on protecting personal information and helping children is very important to us.  This event is the perfect opportunity to help.”
