Nymeo FCU Sponsors Millionaires Club at Local School
November 29, 2017
In partnership with the Credit Union Foundation of MD|DC and Frederick County Public Schools, Nymeo Federal Credit Union sponsored its second Millionaire's Club in Frederick County at Oakdale High School. The Millionaire's Club provides financial literacy education and also teaches leadership and entrepreneurial skills.
"Nymeo is very excited to sponsor the Millionaire's Club at Oakdale High School!" said Vicki Johnston, CEO and President of Nymeo. "By being involved with this Club, students will actively learn how to manage everyday finances plus have fun! We are happy to provide this opportunity for students and FCPS."
The Millionaire's Club provides seed grants and a detailed curriculum, developed by the National Endowment for Financial Education. Students elect their own leaders and actively participate in programs including an entrepreneurial project that allows them to put into practice their newfound skills to generate funds for the Club.
"Nymeo's continued support is so valuable for our students," said Frederick County Public Schools Superintendent Theresa Alban. "Sponsoring The Millionaires Club at Oakdale High is another prime example of the collaborative effort between Frederick County Public Schools and Nymeo to enhance the essential tools that are so important for not only our students, but families and the wider community."
High schools interested in offering the Millionaire's Club may contact Nymeo at marketing@nymeo.org for more information.
Clubs are provided seed grants, detailed curriculum, and faculty/student materials at no charge. Sponsoring credit unions offer support through seed grants and guest speaking engagements. Additional supplies add a fun, competitive edge to the Club's activities. Millionaire's Clubs have produced State and National personal finance champions as well as first-place Stock Market Game™ competitors since the program was founded in 2013.
The program was developed by the CU Foundation MD|DC and is available to schools and credit unions nationwide at no charge through the Foundation's MillionairesClub.org site. Millionaire's Clubs have been expanding rapidly. Currently, over 1,900 students benefit annually from participation at 45 sites.
