Bethpage, NY – November 27, 2017 – Linda Armyn, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, was honored recently by the YMCA of Long Island at their annual “Diamonds & Burlap” Benefit, which took place at the Carlyle on the Green in Farmingdale.  Armyn and Bethpage Federal Credit Union were honored for their great commitment and continued support of the YMCA of Long Island.  Proceeds from the benefit support the YMCA’s island-wide free, Pre-Teen & Teen Centers.

Linda Armyn has served on the Board of Directors at the YMCA of Long Island since 2003 and recently completed her tenure as Chair in July 2017, a position she has held since 2014.  Under Armyn’s leadership, the YMCA of Long Island experienced extraordinary expansion, and has taken strategic steps to create a culture of philanthropy among businesses, families and individuals on Long Island.

“For years, Linda has been dedicated to a better Long Island, a better New York and working together for a ‘Better Us.’ As our Immediate Past Chair, and a longtime YMCA Board Member, she has helped strengthen our presence in the community and personally touched many lives along the way,” said Anne N. Brigis, President and CEO of the YMCA of Long Island.  “We are thrilled to be able to warmly honor Linda and Bethpage Federal Credit Union for their tireless, sacrificial and dedicated service to the YMCA and the Long Island community. Countless teens, seniors, families, and children have benefited from their great support throughout the years.”

“I am very proud of the outstanding work the YMCA of Long Island has carried out over the years.  We have impacted many lives and worked hard to make sure Long Islanders are aware of the invaluable programs and services offered.  The Y is so much more than a gym,” said Linda.  “Like many, I have been a passionate supporter of the YMCA., and feel privileged to receive this honor from such an influential organization.”

Throughout the years Bethpage Federal Credit Union has supported the YMCA of Long Island and its many valuable programs and initiatives.  Focusing on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility, some programs Bethpage has supported for the YMCA include Healthy Kids Day, a national YMCA effort created to improve the health and well-being of children; YMCA summer camp scholarships; the YMCA Boulton Center for the Performing Arts; and Pre-Teen and Teen Centers, which are open to members and non-members and are free of charge.

All proceeds from the Diamonds & Burlap Benefit support the YMCA's island-wide, free Pre-teen and Teen Centers. “Safe and structured programs for teens and pre-teens that take place at five YMCAs across Long Island are a wonderful destination for kids to socialize, explore their interests and learn tools to become confident and competent adults,” continued Armyn.  Both YMCA members and non-members are invited to participate, and all of the teen programs are free of charge.  Pre-teen and teen centers are located at the YMCA East Hampton RECenter, the YMCA at Glen Cove, the Great South Bay YMCA, the Huntington YMCA, and the Patchogue Family YMCA/Brookhaven ROE Center.
