Southern Mass Credit Union Sponsors Veterans Day Luncheon

For the 12th consecutive year, Southern Mass Credit Union (SMCU), Fairhaven, MA, proudly sponsored a Veterans' Day Luncheon, held at the Fairhaven Council on Aging on Wednesday, November 8th. Approximately 76 veterans, spouses and guests enjoyed a hot meal sponsored by SMCU and served by credit union's employees and directors.
"We are honored to provide lunch for veterans and their guests" stated SMCU President/CEO, Carmen Sylvester. "Thank you for your service, dedication and sacrifice. Because of your service, Americans enjoy freedom and privileges unlike any other country. We also thank Anne Silvia, Fairhaven Director of the Council on Aging, for planning and organizing this wonderful event," continued Sylvester.
Guests attending the luncheon included Fairhaven Town Selectmen Charles K. Murphy Sr. and Robert Espindola, priest Al Gagnoli (who served 20 years as a marine Chaplan), and Jim Gagne, Commander of the DAV, New Bedford office.
During the luncheon, Silvia announced each veteran's years of service. Veterans attending this year's luncheon included men and women from various divisions of the U. S. Armed Forces who participated in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. Two veterans attending the luncheon had dedicated 28 and 33 years of their lives serving the U.S.
