November 13, 2017
On Sunday, November 5th, the People's Credit Union team participated in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Light the Night Walk in Providence, beginning on the State House Lawn. The People's team consisted of 14 employees and their families. Through donations, a bake sale, and a causal for a cause day, People's Credit Union was able to donate almost $1,500.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's mission is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. The Light the Night Walk funds treatments that are saving the lives of patients today. The LLS is providing patient support services, advocating for lifesaving treatments and pioneering the most promising cancer research anywhere.
"Thanks to the many research advances funded by the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society the survival rate for the most common form of childhood leukemia is approximately 90%," said Ellen Ford, People's CU President & CEO. "I am very proud of our employee's commitment to this cause and all donations that the credit union collected will go towards helping those affected by blood cancers."
