America's Christian CU Executive Works for Orphans
November 10, 2017
Glendora, CA, November 8, 2017 – America’s Christian Credit Union (ACCU) is proud to announce with the National Council For Adoption (NCFA), the election of Fawn Imboden to the NCFA Board of Directors, beginning September 2017. Fawn currently serves as Vice President/Chief Development Officer at ACCU; Chief Administrative Officer for the Wesleyan Holiness Connection; Board of Trustees member at Life Pacific University; and Board member/immediate past chairperson for the Glendora, California Chamber of Commerce.
Fawn’s heart turned toward orphan work from watching her eldest sister who dedicated her life to caring for hundreds of ethnic orphans in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Then in the mid-1970s, upon the fall of Saigon, Fawn and her family fled from communist Vietnam and found refuge in the United States and the Christian faith. Experiencing a season that mirrored, in certain respects, the plight of an orphan, and coupled with her desire to partner with God in His redeeming work (Psalm 146:9), Fawn developed a passion for serving the children of the world who have yet to find their forever family.
Founded in 1980, NCFA is a global adoption advocacy nonprofit that promotes the expansion and support of adoption through education, research, legislative action, and collaboration. As the authoritative voice for adoption, NCFA’s areas of focus include domestic infant adoption, adoption and permanency outcomes for youth in foster care, and intercountry adoption. Over the course of her three-year Board term, Fawn will bring her unique insight to NCFA’s financial stewardship, strategic planning, and relationships with the faith-based community. Fawn has been engaged with NCFA for several years, during which time she has educated hundreds of adoption professionals about financial resources in a presentation at NCFA’s annual National Adoption Conference, and directed a family-friendly webinar on financial resources.
“The role of National Council For Adoption’s Board of Directors is to maximize the positive influence the organization has on the future of adoption, while navigating the barriers that prevent children from thriving in loving, permanent families,” said NCFA’s Board Chairman, Dr. Wayne W. Sharp. “All adopted children face their own unique challenges of grief, loss, and identity. But for children who wait indefinitely for a forever family—or for children who are never adopted—what is the cost? What is the cost to their well-being? What is the cost to our nation? It is out of true compassion and love that Fawn and her team at ACCU have created a series of financial solutions so that expenses related to adoption do not stand in the way of a child finding his or her forever home. Fawn’s work has impacted the lives of more than 1,600 adopted children so far, and I look forward to working alongside her to make an even larger impact with NCFA.”
