LOWELL – In an effort to equip managers, supervisors and leaders with the tools and education they need to be successful, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union developed the Making Great Managers Training (MGMT) Program. The Credit Union is proud to announce that 38 of its managers and supervisors have completed all requirements of the seven-month program, and earned certificates to recognize their hard work.

The curriculum-based training program began in March, and included three full-day training sessions, taught by members of the Employee Development team, as well as the Assistant Vice President of Human Resources. The trainings consisted of six core courses: HR Laws & Policies; Interviewing Skills; Coaching & Communication; Performance Management; Rewards & Recognition; and Project Management.

Each core training class also included lunch and learn sessions, which incorporated Ted Talks and other material that led peer-to-peer discussions on leadership development and overcoming certain management challenges.

“Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union considers employee development and education a top priority, and we make every effort to provide all staff with the proper training needed to successfully serve our members and each other,” said Mark S. Cochran, President and Chief Executive Officer of Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union. “This program is a wonderful example of those efforts, and we are very proud of the graduates for their achievements, as well as the departments that worked together to develop and implement this program,” he added.

The new and seasoned managers completed their core training in May, but they were also required to take several electives, covering a wide array of topics, over the summer months. To conclude the core course training, the group enjoyed a surprise team building experience at Key to Escape in Nashua, NH. Teams worked together to escape from a sinking submarine or an insane asylum in 60 minutes or less.

The entire program ended in September, and as a last assignment, the participants delivered a 5-7 minute presentation to the group, where they discussed what they learned during the MGMT Program, and how they actively applied their newfound knowledge, skills and experience to their current role within the Credit Union.

In October, the Credit Union held a graduation ceremony where all students received a certificate, and were praised for their dedication to the MGMT Program.

The Credit Union looks forward to offering this program again in March 2018.
