Scott Credit Union Donates $1,700 for Community Fall Festival

Edwardsville, Illinois – Scott Credit Union recently presented a $1,700 check to representatives from the Collinsville Main Street Community Association to be the presenting sponsor of its 2017 Fall Festival that will be held on Saturday, Oct. 28 on Main Street.

The Fall Festival will be held 10am to 3pm on Main Street in Uptown Collinsville. The day is packed with fun family festivities that include Trick or Treating, a Chili Cook-Off from 10am to 3pm, a Children’s Costume Contest at noon, and a Pet Parade that steps off from the Dog Park at 2pm.

Scott Credit Union has been the presenting the sponsor of the event for seven straight years. SCU Financial Services Representative Christine Airey presented the check recently to Fall Fest Coordinator Tami Springer and Collinsville Mayor John Miller.

Collinsville Main Street Community Association’s mission is to improve the quality of life by strengthening the downtown as a center of the community through concentrated efforts of volunteerism in organization, promotion, design and economic restructuring.

“This is another great opportunity for us to support our community and the people who live here,” Airey said. “It is our way of showing our support to downtown Collinsville.”

“Credit unions are really about helping people and this is a perfect way for us to take that even a step further,” she added.

Scott Credit Union representatives will be on site during the Fall Festival hosting a “trunk or treat” booth. Scott Credit Union’s surcharge-free mobile ATM also will be available at the event.

Scott Credit Union has made giving back to its communities a major priority. The local credit union contributed over $430,000 and its employees volunteered over 2,100 hours to a variety of local civic efforts throughout the region in 2016.

“We realize that without our members and the communities in which we serve, we would not exist as a financial alternative,” Airey noted. “Supporting our communities is very important to us.”

The credit union has increased its community involvement in the past few years while also increasing its efforts to educate consumers of the value of doing their financial business with a not-for-profit credit union.

“We really want people in the area to know more about the value of doing business with a credit union,” Airey added. “That is why we have really focused our time on educating area residents about Scott Credit Union. One of the big ways we’ve done that is through our community involvement.”

“In times like these, people are really looking for ways to reduce expenses and save money,” she noted. “We are a great alternative that helps them to do that.”
