PLYMOUTH, Minn. (October 26, 2017) - TruStone Financial Federal Credit Union recently donated $2,500 to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund. The organization, founded by local KARE 11 Sports Director and cancer survivor Randy Shaver, supports the Minnesota cancer community by funding research, detection, prevention and treatment.

The credit union has a strong relationship with KARE 11 and Randy Shaver. TruStone Financial is a presenting sponsor for KARE 11’s Hot Highlights, a weekly segment hosted by Shaver that features top high school football plays of the week and includes a $1,000 donation from the credit union. Since becoming a sponsor, TruStone Financial has given more than $30,000 to area high schools’ general athletic funds.

Upon receiving the generous donation for the charity’s fall Tackle Cancer fundraising initiative, Randy Shaver replied, “I’m thankful for our partnership with TruStone Financial over the last few years and look forward to future opportunities together. I’m humbled to accept this donation on behalf of Tackle Cancer and the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.”

The check was presented at the credit union’s Golden Valley branch on Monday, October 16 by TruStone Financial’s Chief Business Officer Steve Steen, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications Katie Grindeland and Branch Manager Joleen Morgan.

“TruStone Financial is proud to support local high school students in partnership with KARE 11 and our friend Randy Shaver,” stated Steen. “We are equally proud to make this donation to such an impactful cancer fund that continues to touch the lives of our community members.”

KARE 11 featured this story during the nightly sports on Wednesday, October 18 and during Prep Sports Hot Highlights on Friday, October 20.
