First Community CU Raises $3,500 for Local Food Pantries

Jamestown, ND - First Community Credit Union (FCCU) recently held fundraisers in support of its third quarter charity, local food pantries. Employees of FCCU chose a different organization each quarter to support by raising money and awareness.

FCCU collected more than 1,000 food drive items and raised $3,500 for 10 area food pantries. Items donated ranged from macaroni and cheese to fruit cups and granola bars and juice boxes. All of these items are made for easy use, which helps children and families that can use some assistance.

FCCU wanted to raise money in a unique way that tied to the theme of food and did so by creating “The Community Cookbook” raising additional funds for the local pantries. With help from FCCU members from across the region, the cookbook was packed with delicious recipes. There are still cookbooks available at the branches for only $10. All proceeds go to support your local food pantries.

“A sincere thank you to everyone who brought items and supported this cause,” said Justene Kouba, Marketing Specialist at FCCU. “Many of the pantries are extremely low on supplies this time of year and by feeding hungry families, we help build stronger communities.”

During its 78 year history, First Community Credit Union has grown to be North Dakota’s largest Credit Union with 150 employees and 15 branches whose field of membership covers approximately one third of the state. As a credit union, FCCU is owned by its members. This is different than other financial institutions which are owned by a select group of stockholders. The Credit Union's profits are returned to the members in the form of better services, accounts and favorable rates on savings and loans.
