The Midland Daily News just announced that DCECU has been voted the No. 1 Credit Union in the newspaper’s 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards. This is the third year in a row that DCECU has received this award.

“Receiving first place in the Readers’ Choice Awards is real honor,” said DCECU President/CEO Dennis Hanson. “Thank you to everyone who voted for us! We are truly grateful to this community for the many opportunities you give us to help improve the lives of those around us … not only financially, but also in a very hands-on way.”

For example, DCECU recently hosted a community blood drive; donated 35 factory-reset iPad® mobile digital devices to CAN Council Great Lakes Bay Region; and worked together with employees to support Garber Chevrolet’s “Stuff the Bus” event, which collects school supplies for early childhood programs throughout the county.

Employees also routinely participate in community cleanup and home-building projects.

“DCECU is proud of our employees’ willingness to answer the call to help improve our community,” Hanson said. “The employees who participate in these projects are shining examples of the credit union’s commitment to giving back to the community at large.”

On the financial well-being side, the credit union has a reputation for saving its members hundreds of dollars a year through low rates on loans, high returns on savings and fewer fees than other financial institutions. DCECU also is one of only a handful of credit unions in the nation that routinely gives a portion of its earnings back to its members in the form of Loan Interest Rebates and Member Saver Rewards.*

For 2016, DCECU gave back a record-breaking $16 million.

“Members can use their DCECU Member Giveback money for anything they want: to build their savings, fund retirement accounts, pay down debts, pay for tuition, make home improvements … even take a vacation,” Hanson said.

DCECU membership is open to employees and retirees of more than 50 Select Employer Group companies, as well as to their family members.

*While year-end rebates and rewards occur with great regularity, this credit union benefit is not guaranteed. Membership eligibility required.
