WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (Aug. 31, 2017) – Truliant Federal Credit Union today announced it has donated 1,000 cases of water to assist relief and rehabilitation efforts in Texas following Hurricane Harvey.

Hurricane Harvey has battered Texas and southwest Louisiana, impacting hundreds of thousands of people. As water levels in the region continue to rise, clean drinking water becomes more essential.

Truliant is partnering with Le Bleu Water of Advance, N.C., a Truliant business partner, on the project. In addition, Le Bleu has agreed to match Truliant’s donation. As a result, approximately 25,000 bottles of water will begin arriving in Texas later this week to assist area residents.

“Hurricane Harvey is an unprecedented disaster that is taking a massive toll on communities and residents of Texas and now Louisiana,” said Karen DeSalvo, chief marketing officer at Truliant. “At Truliant Federal Credit Union, we are here to improve the lives of our members and their communities. And, this extends to those in need in other parts of our country.

“Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this event,” DeSalvo continued. “We are very happy to partner with Le Bleu to provide much-needed clean drinking water to residents of Houston and the surrounding areas. We hope these two truckloads of water will provide some relief to those affected,” DeSalvo added.

The water will be delivered through local disaster relief and recovery agencies in and around the Houston metro area. Truliant and Le Bleu have worked together in the past on disaster recovery efforts, including donating drinking water during the 2015 flooding in South Carolina.

In addition, the credit union is encouraging anyone who can to make a donation to help Houston residents through a post on its Facebook page. For more information, please visit www.facebook.com/TruliantFCU.
