Staff of Greylock Federal Credit Union, Pittsfield, Mass., came together recently for a compelling cause that tugs at the heart strings. They donned their finest Super Hero duds and raised $1,275 among themselves for the family of a gravely ill child whose grandmother is a Greylock retiree.
Like many little boys, Landen, pictured right, loves Super Heroes so the tee-shirt fundraiser made sense as a fun and fitting way in which employees could get involved. Employees were encouraged to wear the tees but could also wear jeans and sneakers if they made a donation of any kind.
This wasn't the only time employees opened their wallets and hearts for Landen. Assistant branch manager Becki Beron handmade "Super Landen" bracelets for $5 each and raised $240. Another staff member, Nicole Mancivalano, held a can and bottle drive and collected more than 300 from her colleagues. Mancivalano donated the items to her niece's organization, Strong Little Souls, which has collected 4,000 bottles and cans for Landen's family to date.
