EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSUFCU announced a gift of $6,500 to the East Lansing Fire Department (ELFD), alongside a gift in the same amount from the Kiwanis Club of East Lansing, to fund the purchase of two new thermal imaging cameras. The donation was presented by April Clobes, MSUFCU’s President/CEO, and Michael Hudson, MSUFCU’s Board Member, on July 17, 2017 at Fire Station 1 on Abbot Road.

MSUFCU’s and Kiwanis Club’s donations also fund an orientation from the camera distributors to train firefighters on the equipment, two truck chargers, two extra batteries and a five-year full warranty on each camera and battery. With higher resolution images and an enhanced ability to locate hidden fires within structures and those who may be trapped, this new technology will provide invaluable support to the ELFD, benefitting the safety and efficiency of the firefighters who serve the community.

“We are proud to join the Kiwanis Club of East Lansing to help support the East Lansing Fire Department with these lifesaving resources,” said Clobes. “With the addition of this new equipment, our firefighters are now better equipped to protect the lives and infrastructure of our community.”

MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence and has received several top industry and workplace awards. In 2016, the Credit Union was named the #1 Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press and one of Fortune magazine’s 50 Best Workplaces for New College Grads as well as ranked fifth in the nation for its financial education program by the National Youth Involvement Board. MSUFCU also was named one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest companies to Work For, receiving the Michigan Business Professional Association’s top Elite Overall – Best of the Best award. This year, MSUFCU was named Outstanding Credit Union of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League.
