Educational Systems FCU Supports Toolkits, Books, and Backpacks Program
August 15, 2017
August 15, 2017 (Rockville, MD) - Educational Systems Federal Credit Union proudly supported the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) Retirees Association's Toolkits, Books and Backpacks Project by providing 1,100 rulers, 2,200 pencils and a $1,000 monetary donation. The project supports the Extended Learning Opportunities Summer Adventures in Learning (ELO SAIL) program, which is a free four-week summer school program offered at 22 Title I elementary schools to help nearly 1,900 students.
"We are most grateful for the Credit Union's compassion for our county's school children in need and their generous support of our special project," said Joan Donovan, Co-Chair of the Special Projects Committee of the MCPS Retirees Association. "The Credit Union's continued support in this way assures that each kindergartner and Head Start student who needs a kit will receive one at the conclusion of summer school in preparation of the start of his/her educational career in September."
The MCPS Retirees Association created the Toolkits, Books and Backpacks Project in 2003 to help economically disadvantaged students each summer. The donated school supplies and monetary support provided by Educational Systems FCU are used to assemble toolkits. Since the project began, approximately 18,000 toolkits have been assembled and distributed.
"We are proud to support the Toolkits, Books and Backpacks Project," said Chris Conway, President/CEO of Educational Systems FCU. "We believe that
helping students by providing learning materials is the foundation for a successful school year."
Educational Systems FCU (esfcu.org) has proudly served the education community for over 60 years. With over $900 million in assets and 12 branches, the Credit Union serves 87,000 members in seven school systems and three community colleges throughout Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Montgomery, Prince George's, St. Mary's and Talbot counties.
