Fresno, CA - August 11, 2017 - Educational Employees Credit Union based in Fresno, CA, has awarded more than $100,000 in grants to members for college expenses. EECU has given more than $1.1 million in grants to 725 students since the program's inception in 2003.
Beth Dooley, EECU's president and CEO, is proud that the grant program has assisted students in working toward and reaching their career goals. "The more than $1 million we have awarded has helped educate the next generation of teachers, doctors, accountants and nurses, and so many others in their respective fields."
Fifty members, chosen from 382 applicants, each received $2,000 grants for the 2017-2018 school year. They were recognized by Derek F. Scharton, EECU's board chairman, and Dooley at the credit union's Annual Meeting, which was attended by more than 2,200 members and guests.
Grant recipients were selected based on their personal statements, letters of recommendation and school transcripts. The program awards grants to members attending college, vocational or technical school, or pursuing professional training.

EECU has 18 branches and serves about 266,000 members in 10 Central California counties, and has more than $2.8 billion in assets. Photo: This year's recipients for Educational Employees Credit Union's Student Grant Program gather at the credit union's Annual Meeting.
