Pennsylvania Credit Unions Support Dress for Success
August 3, 2017
Middletown, Pa. (August 3, 2017) – First impressions are everything. The way a person speaks, dresses and carries themselves makes an impact, which is why the Global Women’s Leadership Network Pennsylvania Sister Society’s Community Committee gathered a group of credit union women and men to volunteer at Dress for Success.
Thirty men and women from credit unions and credit union organizations all over Pennsylvania volunteered to help load, sort and organize clothing at different Dress for Success locations, as well as paint and clean one of the Dress for Success offices. One volunteer day was held in Harrisburg, Pa., on June 9, 2017. Another was held on July 20, 2017, in three areas - Fayette County, Pa.; Allegheny County, Pa.; and Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
“We wanted to find a charitable organization that has a mission similar to our own, to help women succeed both professionally and personally,” said Erin Doan, co-chair of the Community Committee and administration and community relations director for Vizo Financial. “Dress for Success really fit the bill, and the high level of participation shows that it resonates with the credit unions we are privileged to work with.”
Jaime Agostino, co-chair of the Community Committee and marketing director for Vizo Financial, added, “The feedback we received from those who participated and the Dress for Success directors has been incredibly positive. This is definitely an event we’d like to continue doing in the future.”
The committee selected Dress for Success as one of their community involvement outreach organizations based on its mission to “empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help them thrive in work and life.”
The committee would like to thank everyone who participated in the Dress for Success volunteer day:
