(Indianapolis, IN)  Indiana Members Foundation, the charitable arm of Indiana Members Credit Union, hosted its 2017 Grant Recipient Awards Banquet June 29, 2017 at Primo’s South in Indianapolis and awarded $34,500 in grants through its Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program and Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program. 

The Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program was established to honor Robert E. Martin for his 42 years of dedication and service as a board member of IMCU as well as his commitment to education throughout his career as Vice Chancellor for Administration and Finance at Indiana University Purdue-University at Indianapolis (IUPUI).  The scholarships are available to college students that are members of Indiana Members Credit Union.  Applications are accepted annually from January 1 through April 30. 

Twenty-Five $1,000 scholarships were awarded through the Robert E. Martin Collegiate Scholarship Program to the following recipients:

  • Paige Arrowood, 2017 Greenfield Central High School/Purdue University - $1,000
  • Rachel Bahr, 2017 Plainfield High School/Indiana University - $1,000
  • Hannah Busha, 2016 Lawrenceburg High School/Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis - $1,000
  • Mya Carter, 2017 Ben Davis High School/Ball State University - $1,000
  • Kevin Chu, 2015 Carmel High School/Duquesne University - $1,000
  • Hasanna Curtis, 2015 Lawrence High School/Indiana State University - $1,000
  • Sidney Harris, 2013 Carmel High School/Purdue University - $1,000
  • Brianna Havics,2015 Convenant Christian High School/Indiana University - $,1000
  • Ashley Heady, 2017 Blue River Ridge Academy High School/Purdue University - $1,000

Joan Wolfe worked for Indiana Members Credit Union for 27 years and was a huge supporter of Indiana Members Foundation's mission to provide school children with the necessities essential for learning and succeeding in their education.  Joan lost her fight with Cancer in March of 2013, but her fight to help children succeed continues with the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program.

The purpose of the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program is to assist schools and community organizations that help children to achieve success in learning.  Applications are accepted annually April 15 through May 31. 

Four grants were awarded through the Joan Wolfe Legacy Grant Program to the following organizations:

  • Children’s Bureau, TILT Early Childhood Literacy Project at the Children’s Center - $2,000
  • Marian University, STOP: Know What’s Right Program - $2,500
  • DirectEmployers Institute, STEM YES! 2017 Summer Program - $2,500
  • Playworks, Playworks Pro - $2,500
