(Riverside, Calif.)  July 26, 2017 – Four members of Altura Credit Union’s leadership team, including Chief Financial Officer Tommie Shyrock, recently rappelled down the side of Riverside City Hall to raise funds to assist Habitat for Humanity in delivering programs and services to local military veterans. Sixty people, including local city officials, and civic and business leaders, rappelled 123 feet down the side of Riverside’s seven-story City Hall during the second annual “Over the Edge” fundraising event.

In addition to Shyrock, the other members of Team Altura were: Board of Directors member Ninfa Delgado, Sevan Yakinian, vice president of Member Services, and Chris Andrus, chief culture officer/president of Auto Expert. Altura was also a “Gear Sponsor” for this year’s event.

“Altura was proud to be part of ‘Over the Edge’ for the second consecutive year. In our 60 years in Riverside, Altura has been an active participant in our communities, and this was an opportunity to assist veterans and their families in Riverside and surrounding communities. It is especially important to us because within the last few years, our Membership expanded to include U.S. Military, U.S. Government and civilian employees working at March Air Reserve Base as well as U.S. Armed Forces retirees,” said Shyrock.

In addition to funds generated by sponsors, each participant had to pledge $1,000 before they could climb “over the edge.”  The number people who signed up to rappel nearly doubled this year from 35 to 60, generating $60,000 in pledges alone. Early fundraising estimates are over $85,000 for the 2017 event.

Altura solicited personal donations from employees and Members through a video on Altura’s website and Facebook page. Donations have exceeded $3,600, making Altura a top donor. Altura also is making a matching donation of $3,000.
