Representatives from Scott Credit Union recently presented a check for over $35,000 to support the United Way of Greater St. Louis.

The money was raised during Scott Credit Union’s 11th annual golf tournament fundraiser held in May at The Orchards Golf Course in Belleville. Maura Wuellner, Director of the Illinois Region for the United Way of Greater St. Louis, was at SCU to accept the check.

More than 120 golfers and dozens of area sponsors turned out for the golf event that raised $35,309. Scott Credit Union has held the tournament each year since 2007 to raise money for United Way. The tournament has raised more than $200,000 in its 11 year history.

For information about the 2018 tournament, contact Community Relations Supervisor Jennifer Hess at 618-345-1111.

“We were excited about the opportunity to help United Way in its efforts to help people from throughout our area with our golf tournament and our employee campaign which will take place later in the year,” Hess said. “This is our way of showing our support for what United Way does in our area.”

“Credit unions are really about helping people and this is a perfect way for us to take that even a step further,” she added.

The United Way funds nearly 200 health and human service agencies located throughout a 16-county area in Missouri and Illinois. More than one million people in our bi-state community receive services that strengthen families, help the elderly, keep children healthy and safe, and build stronger neighborhoods.
