Glendora, CA, July 13, 2017 —  America’s Christian Credit Union (ACCU) is proud to announce five recipients of the annual scholarship contest, a testament to the deeply rooted commitment to the pursuit of higher education. Scholarship eligibility was extended to students enrolled in the upcoming 2017-2018 school year. This year’s recipients represent a host of backgrounds, hometowns and God-given callings. ACCU believes education is a tool that can be powerfully used in concert with God’s gifts to make a cultural impact in this world. The criteria used to evaluate these scholarship recipients included academic standing, extracurricular activities, and their creative articulation through video of how God has used them to make a difference in their school or community through their individual gifts and talents.

2017 Scholarship Recipients Include:

Recipient #1 Madison Burch, studying at Ouachita Baptist University (Arkadelphia, AR)

Recipient #2 Mattea Davis, studying at Humboldt State University (Arcata, CA)

Recipient #3 Jeremiah Gress, studying at University of Texas (San Antonio, TX)

Recipient #4 Christine Henderson, studying at Dallas Baptist University (Dallas, TX)

Recipient #5 Cameron Hodges, studying at Southern Adventist University (Collegedale, TN)

When local resident Mattea Davis stopped in at ACCU headquarters to receive her scholarship check, ACCU President/CEO Mendell L. Thompson made sure to greet her and personally hand-deliver the check. Referencing the caliber of this year’s scholarship contest winners, Thompson commented, “It is truly a remarkable journey these young men and women are on. From public to private higher education institutions, these students of faith are undoubtedly going to make a resounding impact on their communities. We are pleased and humbled to be a part of it.”

Receiving the check accompanied by a Certificate of Recognition, Davis enthused, “I’m so blessed that I was picked to receive this virtuous scholar award. Not only will this help me with tuition, but it also helps me go into the world to achieve my dreams. Thank you ACCU and God for giving me this amazing opportunity!”
