Credit Union Association of the Dakotas Awards $5,000 in Scholarships

Bismarck, ND Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) awarded ten

$500 Dakotas’ Credit Union High School Financial Scholarships to the following North Dakota and South Dakota students.

The recipients for North Dakota are:

  • Danielle A. Craig - a senior graduating from Velva High School in Velva is a member of Northern Tier Federal Credit Union.
  • Mary A. Hintz - a senior graduating from Flasher High School in Flasher is a member of Flasher Community Credit Union.
  • Disa Marie Koppelsloen - a senior graduating from Burke Central High School in Lignite is a member of Town and Country Credit Union.
  • Carly C. Lehr - a senior graduating from Fargo North High School in Fargo is a member of Town and Country Credit Union.
  • Miranda R. Skramstad a senior graduating from Enderlin High School in Enderlin is a member of Dakota Plains Credit Union.

The recipients for South Dakota are:

  • Zac Fries - a senior graduating from Langford Area High School in Langford is a member of Norstar Federal Credit Union.
  • Shannon L. Katz - a senior graduating from Huron High School in Huron is a member of Dakotaland Federal Credit Union.
  • Kayla J. Mentele - a senior graduating from McCook Central High School in Salem a member of Service First Federal Credit Union.
  • Kayley J. Neville - a senior graduating from Central High School in Rapid City is a member of Hghmark Federal Credit Union.
  • Trevor J. Ryan - a senior graduating from Highmore High School in Highmore is a member of HB Telco Federal Credit Union.

The students plan to use the individual $500 scholarships to pursue degrees in higher education. The scholarship is designed for high school seniors who are credit union members.

A panel of five judges selected the students based upon a selected essay written by the students. The applicants chose to write about one of two topics: “How, through your involvement in the community/school activities, events, or volunteer efforts have you shown the cooperative spirit?” or “What can your credit union do to continue providing you with financial solutions for a lifetime?”
