Hopewell FCU Awards $1,000 Scholarship

HEATH/NEWARK, OH – June 29th, 2017—Hopewell Federal Credit Union announced the winner of its annual $1000 scholarship.  This distinguished honor was awarded to Shae Miller.  Miller, a recent graduate from Lakewood High School, will depart in the fall to attend Ohio Christian University in Circleville, Ohio.      

Miller excels both academically and personally and has created a strong presence in the community.  Below are just a few of her accolades. 

  • She is active – Participating in Varsity Soccer, Drama Club, Piano, Freshman Mentoring and Serving as an Office and Technology Aide
  • She is a volunteer – Donating her time to the Kids’ Fun Night presented by the Lakewood National Honor Society 
  • She is intelligent – Serving as a member of the National Honor Society

Applicants were asked to reflect on how being a member of a not-for-profit credit union differs from traditional for-profit financial institutions.  Though a strong field of applicants came forward with submissions, Ms. Miller’s was a standout and chosen as the 2017 Hopewell Federal Scholarship winner.
