Altura Credit Union Awarded $49,000 in Scholarships

(Riverside, Calif.) – The Altura Credit Union Scholarship Foundation recently awarded college scholarships of $1,000 each to 45 students graduating from Riverside County, Calif., public and private high schools.  Additionally, four local students received $1,000 Memorial Scholarships through the Foundation. Since its inception in 1993, more than $600,000 in scholarships have been awarded to 635 local students to help pay the costs of higher education.

Of the 45 scholarships, 30 are general scholarships, five scholarships are for students in AVID programs, and 10 are specifically for students planning to attend the University of California, Riverside. The UCR recipients will be named in August. Nearly 200 students applied for scholarships this year.

Students are selected for scholarships based on their academic record, financial need, extracurricular activities and an essay detailing their college goals.  For more information about the scholarship program, visit the Scholarship section on Altura’s website, AlturaCU.com
