CSE Federal Credit Union Awards Three Scholarships

LAKE CHARLES, LA – MAY 23, 2017 – CSE Federal Credit Union recognized three deserving high school seniors with scholarship awards during the credit union’s 73rd Annual Meeting on May 4. Tyler Welch, Taylor Fontenot, and Kayla Baudoin each received $1,000 to go toward their continued education at a college or vocational school program. 

Tyler, the son of Brian and Jackie Welch of Lake Charles, LA., is a graduate of Barbe High School.  During his time there he was Student of the Month and Calcasieu Parish student of the Year, a finalist for the Louisiana High School student of the Year award, AP Scholar with Distinction. He is also a member of the Barbe Choir, Honor choir, National Honor Society, Student Council, Beta Club and Future Business Leaders of America. His academic accomplishment includes a GPA of 4.23 and ACT composite score of 32. 

Taylor, the son of James and Candice Fontenot of Sulphur, LA., is a graduate of Sulphur High School. Taylor’s academic accomplishments include a GPA of 4.05. He also earned academic excellence from the Louisiana Music Educators Association for 3 years along with AP College Credit.  He is a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club.  Taylor was named to the All-State Honor Choir for 3 years by the Louisiana Music Educators Association and he has been in the District 5 Honor Choir for 7 years. 

Kayla, the daughter of Danny and Lori Baudin of Sulphur, LA., is also a graduate of Sulphur High School.  During high school, Kayla was a Catholic Youth Leadership Award Finalist.  She maintained academic excellence with 13 semesters of Banner Roll and a GPA of 4.13.  Kayla participated in numerous student clubs including the National Honor Society and the Health Careers Club.  She showcased proven talent in the Chamber and Show Choir. 

Scholarship recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, statement of goals and aspirations, unusual personal or family circumstances, and an outside appraisal. Selection of recipients is made by Scholarship Management Services, the nation’s largest designer and manager of scholarship and tuition reimbursement programs for corporations, foundations, associations, and individuals.
