EAST LANSING, Mich. — MSU Federal Credit Union (MSUFCU) is proud to announce that it has been named the 2017 Outstanding Credit Union of the Year by the Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL). MSUFCU was formally awarded at the Honor Awards Breakfast during MCUL and CU Solutions Group’s Annual Convention and Exposition in Grand Rapids, Michigan, from June 10, 2017. MSUFCU was selected as the winner of the large employer category based on its recent growth and community involvement in 2016. From opening two branches in the Clarkston area, to creating the Financial Innovation and Education Center near Michigan State University’s campus, the Credit Union grew significantly throughout the year. Additionally, the Credit Union gave back to the community through numerous financial education presentations, volunteer activities, and charitable giving initiatives.

“We are honored to receive the MCUL Outstanding Credit Union of the Year Award. Since 1937, we have been dedicated to the credit union philosophy of ‘people helping people,’” said April Clobes, MSUFCU’s President/CEO. “Through providing superior service, creating a positive work environment, and giving back to the community, we have embodied our mission of helping employees and members achieve their financial goals and dreams.”

MSU Federal Credit Union, the world’s largest university-based credit union, offers a full range of personal — and businessrelated — financial services to Michigan State University and Oakland University faculty, staff, students, alumni, and their families worldwide, in addition to a variety of select employee groups. Founded in 1937 by MSU professors, MSUFCU has 17 branches, over 235,000 members, more than $3.56 billion in assets, and over 750 employees. In 2016, MSUFCU was recognized as the #1 Top Workplace in the large employer category by the Detroit Free Press, as well as one of Fortune’s 50 Best Workplaces for New College Grads. Also in 2016, MSUFCU was selected as one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, receiving the Michigan Business Professional Association’s top honor of Elite Overall – Best of the Best award. MSUFCU has a national reputation for excellence, and was recognized in 2016 as fifth in the nation for its financial education program by the National Youth Involvement Board.
