Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union Awarded $15,000 in Scholarships

LOWELL – Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union was honored to have awarded $15,000 in college scholarship to members who are either incoming or current college students through its MoneyStrong College Scholarship Program and Employee Scholarship Program.
The winners of the 17th annual MoneyStrong College Scholarship Program were asked to write an essay in response to the following prompt: “Credit is borrowed money that you can use to purchase goods and services when you need them. In your essay, tell us why credit is important, and how a good credit score can help you achieve your goals.” The Credit Union granted funds to 18 students were chosen as recipients of the scholarship award to help defray their education costs. Of the winners, fifteen are high school seniors gearing up for their freshman year and three are currently attending various colleges in the area.
Through the Employee Scholarship Program, Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union employees, as well as an employee’s child or grandchild, are eligible to receive a $500 or $1,000 scholarship. Depending on the scholarship they applied for, applicants were asked to submit an essay describing a situation in which they demonstrated one of the Credit Union’s four core values: provide legendary service, take responsibility, work together and strive for excellence. The Credit Union awarded a total of $4,500 through the Employee Program.
All recipients were recognized at a recent reception at Jeanne D’Arc Credit Union’s corporate headquarters. Students and their supportive friends and family, as well as several Jeanne D’Arc staff members, attended the ceremony.

The MoneyStrong scholarship winners include: Rileigh Armstrong from Lowell Catholic High School, Saint Anselm College; Luisa Bedoya, University of New Hampshire; Grace Carolan from Lowell High School, American University; Daniel Gacek from Dracut High School, UMass Amherst; Alyssa Huggins, Lasell College; Miranda Labonte from Pelham High School, University of New Hampshire; Stephen MacLeod from Lowell Catholic High School, Quinnipiac University; Nicole Morin from Dracut High School, UMass Amherst; Catherine Moynihan from Lowell High School, Loyola University of Maryland; Christopher Nacopoulos, from Westford Academy, Bentley University; Kajal Patel, UMass Amherst; Joseph Perez from Greater Lowell Technical High School, Middlesex Community College; Dominic Privitera from Methuen High School, Northeastern University; John Privitera from Methuen High School, Northeastern University; Andre Ragel from Lowell High School, UMass Lowell; Andrew Satori from Greater Lowell Technical High School, UMass Lowell; and Tyler Winn from Westford Academy, Merrimack College.
Recipients of the Employee Scholarships include: Kellie McDonald, Massachusetts College of Art and Design; Carolyn Doherty, Plymouth State University; Noah White, Northeastern University; Sarah Comtois, Saint Joseph’s College of Maine; Ashley Desmarais, UMass Lowell; and Edith Samboy, UMass Lowell.
