CFE Federal Credit Unions(Lake Mary, FLA)affinity debit card program is becoming very popular with the local school districts for a very good reason. Since the inception of the MyCFE4Schools program 4 years ago, CFE has donated a total of $270,300 to Orange, Seminole, and Osceola County School Districts.
The MyCFE4Schools partnership allows CFE members to select a custom debit card that supports the school district of their choice. When cardholders use the debit card for signature-based transactions, CFE sets aside funds in a separate account for donation to the districts based on card usage for the year.
The 2012 donation amount was $108,300. Orange County School District received $60,800, Osceola County received $25,300, and Seminole County received $17,700. Checks were presented during school board meetings by Joseph A. Melbourne, Jr., President and CEO, and senior management representatives of CFE.
"We are pleased to support our school districts with the steady stream of funds produced by this program," says Mr. Melbourne. "Through this partnership, the school districts have an opportunity to enhance the education experience of our students in Central Florida."
In addition to the MYCFE4Schools program, CFE has been an avid business partner with the school districts and foundations through reading programs, various sponsorships, donations, volunteerism, partnerships with schools, and financial literacy in the classrooms.
