Eden Prairie, MN   - The SPIRE Credit Union Scholarship Committee recently awarded a $500 Traditional Scholarship to Eden Priaire High School student, Justin Macho.

Justin’s application outlined a well-rounded commitment to community by volunteering for organizations such as the Prop Shop, Feed My Starving Children, and participating in mission trips to help less fortunate families with home repairs and painting.  He is also an athlete with over 13 years in the Baseball and Basketball programs, and a musician with the Jazz, Concert and Pep Bands.  Noteworthy activities and achievements, along with the completion of a well-written essay, were factors in the winner selection process.

In Justin’s essay answering the question, Why is your credit union important to you? How has it helped your family?  He noted that, “SPIRE is very important to me because this credit union will be able to support me and all of my financial needs now and in the future.  I have trust and confidence that with Spire’s help I will be able to achieve all of my dreams and goals.  One day, I hope to introduce my own children to Spire and all of the wonderful things this credit union has to offer.”

Since its inception, the SPIRE Scholarship Program has awarded 72 scholarships for a total of $38,000 to credit union members.  “We are so honored to give youth an opportunity to further their education and chase their dreams,” says Dan Stoltz, SPIRE CEO/President, “The scholarship program truly embraces the SPIRE philosophy of improving lives.”

An additional $500 SPIRE scholarship was awarded in Woodbury as part of the 2017-2018 SPIRE Scholarship Program.
