Genisys Credit Union Supports Community with Donations and Volunteer Work

Auburn Hills, Mich. – May 24, 2017 – Genisys Credit Union President and CEO Jackie Buchanan was nominated and selected to receive the Most Valuable Professional award from Corp! Magazine.

Buchanan began her career as an accounts payable clerk at Parda Federal Credit Union in Rochester, Michigan. In 1991 she started at Genisys (previously T&C Federal Credit Union) as an accounting manager.  About 7 years later she became the vice president of Information Technology. In 2008, Buchanan was named  executive vice president and CIO at Genisys and, in 2010, was promoted to President and CEO.

Since becoming President and CEO at Genisys, Buchanan has led the financial institution to growth and increasing financial strength. Since December 2011, Genisys has experienced growth each year  in assets, loan balances, deposits, and members served. Few other credit unions can make this claim. Under Buchanan’s leadership, Genisys has expanded to become one of the 100 largest credit unions in the nation.  Genisys is also one of the most technologically advanced credit unions in the country, with an award winning mobile application and many member self service functions in mobile and online banking.

Genisys has received a 5-Star safety and soundness rating from Bauer Financial for 26 consecutive years. Less than 4% of U.S. financial institutions can make this claim. In addition, Genisys was named to the depositaccounts.com “Top 200 Healthiest Credit Unions” and “S&P Global Top 50 Best Performing Credit Unions in the U.S.” lists.

Buchanan’s focus on member and employee satisfaction is displayed through surveys continuously conducted by Genisys. Members have consistently given Genisys high ranks in surveys with an 80% Net Promoter Score and 95% Member Satisfaction rating. Employee satisfaction also remains very high with surveys showing 96% employee satisfaction. In 2016, Genisys was  named a Detroit Free Press Top Workplace for the seventh straight year.  In addition, Genisys was named favorite credit union in several local newspaper reader polls.

Finally, Buchanan has led Genisys to becoming a leader in the communities it serves. Genisys supported 550 community and charitable events in 2016, with employees donating 3,890 hours of time.
