  Highmark FCU Golf Tournament Raises Over $3,000 for BackPack Program

This years "CU on the Green" Golf Tournament, sponsored byHighmark Federal Credit Union�at Meadowbrook Golf Course was held on Friday, August 31.�

The tournament netted a total of $3,065.00 for the BackPack Program.�Terri Larson, VP of Lending, Highmark FCU, presented a check for $3,065 to Ryan Chocholousek, Feeding South Dakotas BackPack Program Coordinator in Rapid City.��

"There are many children in our community who depend on school lunches as their only source of food throughout the week and on weekends - without the BackPack Program they would literally go without food," explains Ryan Chocholousek, Feeding South Dakotas BackPack Progam Coordinator in Rapid City.�"Every Friday afternoon from September through May, we deliver almost 1800 backpacks filled with food to�19 schools in Rapid City alone and there are more hungry children on our waiting list than we currently have resources to handle.�This generous donation garnered through fees and raffle activities at CU on the Green Golf Tournament will provide 21 children with food throughout the year through the BackPack Program."

There was community-wide support for this fundraising event with 58 golfers competing on 15 teams.�Credit Unions from the Black Hills area, the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas,(Bismarck, ND),and Alloya Corporate CU, (Warrenville, IL), as well as a host of area business teams and individuals came together to raise funds for this worthy local charity.

There were many businesses that supported CU on the Greens efforts. �Sponsors who helped make this event a glowing success include Toyota of the Black Hills, Robert Sharp & Associates, Richard DuBois, Meadowbrook Golf Course, CU*Answers, Parkside Chiropractic, Tracy Lessin of REMAX, Rushmore Honda, Dan Staeffler of Black Hills Homebuilders Assn, Rapid Chevy, Black Hills Harley Davidson, CU Mortgage Direct, Pennington Title, Lawrence Title, First American Title, Southern Hills Title, CUNA Mutual Group, CU Recovery, Todd Meyer Appraisals, Floras Gifts & Jewelry, Eagle Beverage Sales, and Murphys Pub & Grill.

Media sponsors included Haugo Broadcasting stations 95.1 KSKY, KICK 104 and ESPN Radio 1340 KTOQ.
