Bismarck, ND - For the second consecutive year, the Credit Union Association of the Dakotas (CUAD) sponsored a player from the Bismarck Century High School Patriots baseball team which joined forces with the Bismarck High School Demons baseball team to “Strike Out Hunger.” In addition to providing a sponsorship, CUAD staff volunteered to help at the event.

At a doubleheader on May 9, the Patriots and Demons teams led efforts to assist the 94,000 individuals served each year by the Great Plains Food Bank. Players from both teams sought sponsorships for the event from local businesses and community partners. Additionally, the teams collected cash donations and non-perishable food items, and sold t-shirts celebrating the event.

In the end, the 2nd Annual Strike Out Hunger event raised more than $4,800 and gathered over 1,100 pounds of food items for the Great Plains Food Bank office in Bismarck. The food and donations will be distributed locally.

“The 2nd Annual Strike Out Hunger event has once again shown its true impact on our community, and we’re proud to not only sponsor a baseball player, but to help volunteer at this community based event,” said Jeff Olson, President/CEO CUAD.
