Glendora, CA, — America’s Christian Credit Union filled its corporate headquarters with community partners who have committed to make a difference in the lives of foster youth, underserved academic communities and the homeless. Representatives from Neighborhood Homework House, Serenity Foster Care and Adoption, and the Dream Center L.A. stopped by to promote and inspire the shared priorities of each organization.

Pastors of the Dream Center in LA, Matthew and Caroline Barnett, joined the ACCU staff for an update on the current success and vision of the Dream Center, not to mention Pastor Matthew’s World Marathon Challenge accomplishment. The Dream Center has been a long-standing partner of the Credit Union, leveraging the affinity VISA Giveback Card to raise money while members use their card in everyday purchases.

Additionally, honored with the 7th Annual “FIRST” Award from FIS/Miser, ACCU’s database core system vendor, the Credit Union was recognized for its “innovation in a product or service that benefits the local community, charity, or employee group of the institution”. The award came in the form of a $5,000 charitable gift, to be directed to the charity or charities of ACCU’s choosing.

As a result, ACCU selected both Serenity Adoption, Inc. of Covina and Neighborhood Homework House of Azusa, to support the community-changing work being done for underserved communities.  President/CEO Mendell L. Thompson presented checks to Executive Director Jennifer Hicks of Neighborhood Homework House, and to President/CEO Bobbi Thomas of Serenity Adoption, Inc., in the amount of $2,500 each, for their investment and good works in the community. Each of these two leaders appeared personally to participate in a photo opportunity commemorating the donation.
