Massachusetts Credit Unions Help Provide a Bed for Every Child
May 11, 2017
The Cooperative Credit Union Association (CCUA), on behalf of the Massachusetts Credit Unions, presented a donation to the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless to lead a major awareness campaign and raise funds for its "A Bed for Every Child" initiative.
"We are so fortunate to have the Massachusetts Credit Unions as a partner as we spotlight the Bed for Every Child program and its important mission to distribute beds to children in need. The credit unions have been exemplary partners over the last two decades and we are excited to have them inspire others through their leadership to help us raise funds to distribute 1,500 beds this year," said Robyn Frost, the coalition's executive director.
The Massachusetts Credit Unions have been a proud supporter of the coalition for more than two decades, raising nearly $2 million and providing blankets, toys, books, and heat to help families in need. There will be several new opportunities and activities tagged to A Bed for Every Child, including a statewide tour through the credit unions by the program's "mascot," Tuck, a life-size bear who is raising awareness of the initiative through appearances and a social media campaign, #sharethebear. Tuck's tee-shirt is branded with the name of CCUA's consumer awareness campaign, BetterValues.Better Banking.,, to promote the Commonwealth's credit unions. The Massachusetts Credit Unions also hosted a "Build a Bed" challenge in March and are a lead sponsor of A Bed for Every Child's "Dream Big" Gala at the Hotel Commonwealth on May 17 that will feature Devin McCourty from The New England Patriots.
"The idea of so many children not having their own bed is unimaginable," said Paul Gentile, president/CEO, CCUA. "As cooperatives, Massachusetts Credit Unions work together to support A Bed for Every Child and continue to make a great impact throughout the state as a core partner of the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless. We believe in the good work that the coalition does and are happy to do our part in helping children get a good night's sleep to prepare them for a better future."
"We are looking forward to our partnership with CCUA in 2017. It is a great way to help to dream big!" exclaimed Frost.
