DENHAM SPRINGS, LOUISIANA – To celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of Pelican State Credit Union’s Denham Springs branch at 145 Rushing Road on Thursday, April 27, the credit union gave members a chance to win thousands of dollars in prizes, including an all-you-can-grab, two-minute “Pack Your Pantry Shopping Spree” at Carter’s Supermarket.

The Grand Re-Opening came as a welcome addition to the community for members and team members alike after the Great Flood of 2016 brought four feet of water into the Denham Springs branch. After the waters receded, it was Pelican’s first priority to make sure members and the branch community had the resources they needed to begin the rebuilding process. As soon as it was safe to get into the branch, Pelican team members were on the scene cleaning up debris and salvaging paperwork.

Pelican knew the importance of being open and there for their members during this time. With a vision and the assistance of Labarre Associates, the credit union turned the drive-thru into a full-service temporary branch for members and CO-OP Shared Branching members to do their banking while the branch was being rebuilt. The temporary branch was up and running eight days after being conceptualized, and the branch team members adapted to their new home and all weather conditions without hesitation. Their only concern was serving their members.

Equipped with an even stronger bond with each other, their members and their community, Pelican’s Denham Springs branch focused on supporting local businesses at its Grand Re-Opening. Pelican provided breakfast and lunch from local restaurants and gave away prizes from local retailers like Rusty Rooster, Brushfire and Taste of Louisiana every 30 minutes to members who visited the newly remodeled branch.

The credit union is actively involved with the Denham Springs community and regularly gives back to its members through community events like the Denham Springs Spring and Fall Festivals. Pelican also hosts an annual FREE Kids Bike Race before school starts. The event is open to the public and is a completely free event that includes face painting, games and refreshments.

Pelican members can benefit from free one-on-one credit counseling, a variety of convenient products and services and several opportunities to win cash and prizes throughout the year. For information about becoming a Pelican member, please call Denham Springs Asst. Branch Manager Christian M. Gordon at (225) 408-6228.
