Bannockburn (IL) – In support of Great Lakes Credit Union’s initiative to support its communities, on April 13, 2017, GLCU’s Board Member, Shirley Solberg, presented $3,000 to A Safe Place in Zion, a local safe haven for battered women.

GLCU is proud to support the communities in which its members live. For the second year in a row, GLCU’s Board of Directors adopted an extraordinary plan to give back to its communities; the Branch Managers of each GLCU location work closely with Board Members to find local charities to support on behalf of GLCU.

A Safe Place is the leading advocate for eliminating domestic violence in northern Illinois. They create a welcoming environment and provide helpful information and training about domestic violence to students, professionals and the general community. A Safe Place also offers services for family members affected by domestic violence through art therapy for children, counseling services for the family, resume writing, and more. Throughout 2017, GLCU will continue to donate to organizations that are making a positive impact around their community.
