Mississippi Credit Unions Treat 2,500 to a Day at the Zoo
April 15, 2017
Jackson, Miss.—The 3rd Annual CU at the Zoo event drew a record crowd of 4,500 guests; the credit unions of Mississippi paid for over 2,500 guests to attend the event for free.
The 3rd Annual CU at the Zoo Day was a roaring success! The event was held Saturday, April 15, at the Jackson Zoo, not only to celebrate April as National Credit Union Youth Month, but also as an opportunity to give back to the community by offering free admission to the zoo.
This year there were ten credit unions participating: Jackson Area Federal Credit Union, Statewide Federal Credit Union, Members Exchange Credit Union, Hope Credit Union, Mississippi Federal Credit Union, Magnolia Federal Credit Union, Eagle Express Federal Credit Union, Rivertrust Federal Credit Union, Mutual Credit Union and CommFirst Federal Credit Union.
The credit unions were on-site at the zoo to offer financial literacy resources for youth, as well as activities, games and prizes.
After the event, Angela Mitchell, AVP of Marketing at Members Exchange Credit Union, congratulated the participating credit unions on the success of the event. "This was an amazing year and it’s all because of the collaborative effort from each credit union that made this year’s event such a success. The total attendance for the day was around 4,500!" said Mitchell.
"The overall goal was accomplished… we made a huge impact in our community and the families and children that attended had a great time. I really feel that we made it possible for some families to attend the zoo that otherwise would have never been able to go. The credit union spirit continues to amaze me," added Mitchell.
