On Saturday, March 25, 2017, the Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union along with its partners, Sioux Falls Storm and KSFY hosted its "Night of Hope and Caring," a fundraiser for public schools in the city.

While some of the Sioux Falls schools have very successful PTAs/PTOs with large fundraising capabilities, other schools have no PTA/PTO at all due to working parents with limited transportation and no financial means to support the little “extras” for their child’s school.

The purpose of this special fundraising event is to “level the playing field for Elementary Schools that have fundraising needs” and help schools to support “extras” like field trips, playground equipment, school supplies, artists-in-residence, etc. Since the Sioux Falls School District does not employ a “development staff” to secure donations, Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union partnered with the Storm and KSFY-TV to host a fundraiser for these needs.

As an event sponsor, Sioux Falls Federal Credit Union's President/CEO, Fran, Sommerfeld, took the field for the check presentation.  This event raised a total of $26,450.
