Herndon, Va. (March 28, 2017) – The NWFCU Foundation, the charitable arm of Northwest Federal Credit Union, partnered with members, corporations and Community Partners to donate over 7,000 child-friendly, nutritious, nonperishable food items as part of their Weekend Backpack Program. Additionally, over $600 was received in monetary donations. The donations will help ensure that local children receive nourishment throughout the weekend to help ease the burden of being away from free and reduced meals. The food was donated to various schools in Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William and Fauquier Counties in Virginia. The program is part of the Foundation’s mission to support the health and well-being of children in its community.

“NWFCU Foundation is overjoyed with the outpouring of support from NW Credit Union members, employees and other corporate sponsors. We are so very grateful to our community for all of the food that was donated at our branches,” said Executive Director of the NWFCU Foundation, Alexzandra Shade. “It’s great knowing that the Weekend Backpack Program Drive positively impacted the recipients at each school.”
